Kitsap Mental Health Services (KMHS) is hiring a Food Service Specialist to support our clinical programs by ensuring timely meal service across multiple facilities. In this essential role, you will participate in, and at times oversee, the daily preparation of meals and snacks for the Adult Inpatient Unit (AIU), Youth Inpatient Unit (YIU), Crisis Triage Center (CTC), Pacific Hope and Recovery Center (PHRC), Madrona School, and Residential Services (RS). You’ll collaborate closely with clinical and support staff to maintain smooth kitchen operations.
 

Primary Responsibilities:
 
  • Utilize the Grove Menu system, which considers proper nutrition guidelines, to prepare daily meals and snacks.  
  • To work under the supervision of the Kitchen Supervisor in the preparation of foods using various techniques.   
  • Provide food preparation training and oversight to other staff and/or clients as deemed necessary.  
  • Adhere to and teach food and kitchen safety while maintaining an organized and sanitary kitchen.  
  • Work collaboratively with other staff and assist them with other tasks as necessary.  
  • To actively communicate with all units and participate in the delivery of meals and supplies whenever necessary.

Minimum Qualifications:
 
EXPERIENCE: Entry Level (no experience required) 
 
This position requires driving agency vehicles. Incumbent must meet all agency driving requirements, including being at least 21 years old, having been licensed for a minimum of three years, successfully completing a motor vehicle history check, possessing and
maintaining a current, valid driver’s license in the state of Washington, and having reliable, insured transportation. 
 
CREDENTIALS: Valid Washington Food Worker card. 
 
 
Preferred Qualifications:
EDUCATION: High School Diploma or GED
EXPERIENCE: EXPERIENCE/SKILLS: Familiarity with basic cooking techniques and processes.
